Things I love,..
1. San Diego!! I just went last week to plan the wedding and my oh my, I love it. Why didn't I think of living there... The wedding will be on La Jolla Cove(the bridge club to be exact..), pics are available on my shutterfly page: http://erinandross.shutterfly.com We set it up so we could send pics to his grandma and dad, but it ended up being so convenient that I put a bunch on there. I always order prints from there, and I wanted backups of pics.
2. Wedding planning -- what a blast! I essentially planned my entire wedding via internet (email, websites, etc.) and it worked out marvelously -- the caterer rocks, the site is awesome, I love the photographer, my hair/makeup was lovely -- my next big task is finding a dress (yipes! I'm actually the most worried aobut that cause I'm pretty picky. Going to my first Bridal Show tomorrow- way stoked!
3. Summer! I've been on 3 vacations so far and leaving for another in one week. It's been the FASTEST summer of my life I think -- I start school (student teaching) in like 4 weeks. I'm at Mansfield High school teaching 9th and 10th grade pre-AP and regulars classes (so like 3-4 lesson plans, crazy!), but I am super stoked about it.
4. Overstockjeweler.com -- omg I have been addicted to buying faux Tiffany jewelry for like 2 weeks straight now, I can practically get rid of all my Sam Moon stuff!
Okay that is all.
Wedding date!
Well, we have decided on a wedding date: June 16, 2007.
I am so excited to jump into all the fun planning! I got into Mansfield for student teaching in the fall and only have 4 days left of school, yippee!!!
Also, check out my
wedding website.
Have a great day!
Reading Material
Hello, I suck at updating, but who doesn't these days? My weeks are flying by, can you believe it's already April?! I am furiously trying to finish all of my assignments for the semester (I still have like 20 papers to write, of course). It is my last semester of English classes and I truly saved the hardest for last. My two this semester are kicking my butt! I'm so ready to just be done with school and to get married and start teaching and really get out there! I start teaching ESL classes next week, and I am quite excited! I love being in the classroom and making a difference in lives-- can't imagine a better profession for me!
I've been doing a boatload of reading lately, much more than usual, and I have found a plethora of awesome books out there that you should be reading. So, just in time for a end-of-the semester break, I present my Top 3 Books You Should Read Now. I hope someone reads this just so they can be aware of some great new books out there!
1.
The Namesake, Jhumpa Lahiri. Lahiri is awesome. She writes with incredible detail and style and you just love her characters. The Namesake is about an Indian couple who immigrates to America and has a son, Gogol (named after the famously hilarious Russian writer). The story is all about Gogol's life and his struggles against his parents and it's a great read. I read the whole thing in like 3 days. Pick it up!
2.
Bel Canto, Ann Patchett. I read this all the way home from Colorado over spring break. It is riveting!! Based on the 1996 Hostage situation in Peru, this story is about dignitaries held hostage by terrorists for 4 months. I couldn't put it down, it's quite good!
3.
The Intuitionist, Colson Whitehead. I picked this up the other day and already am starting to read. It's about two warring factors of Elevator Inspectors and is an allegory of society today. It's awesome and funny and exciting!! Also, try his new book,
Apex Hides the Hurt, which just came out like 2 weeks ago. It's next on my list!!
Happy reading!
Happy Valentines Day!
Life updates:
The olympics are on and the Italian Festival was a success, and I love the olympics!
I am student teaching (hopefully) in Mansfield next semester, hooray!
Going skiing in Copper Mountain for Spring break and hopefully learning to snowboard.
My life is crazy, but I've been to the gym every day for the past 4 weeks, yay for me!

Introspective babble.
I am so fed up with the tired, outdated information on the sidebar that I have not actually visited my own website in months. Thus, I deleted most of it. Honestly, everyone changes links so often, and there are always so many to add and delete, that I really just use the facebook and AIM profiles for links.
Moving on...
I haven't posted in forever, and it is not because I have nothing to day, but not enough time or reason to say it. It's the eternal blogging paradox:
When you have time to post, you have nothing to post about, when you have stuff to write about, no time to write it.
Also, I have found that typically I post things to get them off of my chest, feel better about them and really vent, but honestly I don't have anything like that to talk about.
I guess you could say, I've lost my audience, and it's not a bad thing to me, just a thing. I mean, I only update this thing like once in a blue moon and when I do, either nobody knows what I'm talking about or people who do have already heard it a thousand times. I guess at some point you get to where you really don't care that everyone out there has access to your life and can keep up with what you did last saturday and the saturday before because, guess what, they don't care and neither should you.
I'm not entirely sure where I am going with this...
When I find myself in a position to post, with time, creativity, and patience, I find that it's a waste of time.
That said, I'm not really all that sure when I will get around to posting again. I don't want to pull one of those, "I quit blogging" things, so I'll just say it how it is: I'm not really sure where this is going, if anywhere, but in a really fulfilling way I don't feel like I need to justify my life by writing it out and publishing it for the world to see... and I like that.
